EYES of deepspace ; sylus & the 6th LI
"When Pangu died, his breath became the wind, mist and clouds; his voice, thunder; his left eye, the Sun; his right eye, the Moon."
"The eye of Horus, greatly injured by Set, underwent several phases of restoration. Thus, it became a symbol of masculinity, healing, protection, and the Moon." - left eye
"The eye of Ra, a feminine extension of the sun god that acted as a goddess with its own mind, was sent by him to punish a group of humans who were plotting against him. It--or she, was a symbol of femininity, power, wrath, and the Sun." - right eye

this post is a continuation of the one about the 6th LI & the MC representing the sun god ra & his eye respectively. i will link it at the end.
before truly diving into the heart of this post, however:
while i understand why he seems unlikely to even be written for some, let alone released, and that there's a lot of missing content for sylus and caleb which is unfair; this post isn't to accurately prove or confirm his existence, it's purpose isn't to act as a "gotcha" argument against those who oppose his release or don't think it'll happen (for valid reasons, i'm aware).
it is merely another attempt at piecing together fragments of the game's complex lore to try to understand how the 6th LI may (or may not) fit into the bigger picture. and by doing so, i also try to to align the information at hand to previous theories i have posted.
so while everyone is entitled to their opinion, I would appreciate it if you refrain from only debating against his existence under this post. the arguments against him are a bit repetitive and don't really add much to the discussion, in this context specifically. you are free to disagree with me in whichever aspect, and I am open to hearing different perspectives, but my main concern is attempts to completely shut down the idea of his existence, and by extension, total dismissal of fan theories that pose no harm.
now without further ado, we should begin.

EYES. what are their significance to the lore?
if you've encountered posts that try to dissect the lore, you've likely come across several of them pointing out EVER's logo, which is shaped like an eye. similar eye-like circles and symbols can be seen in protofields as well. but while this is very interesting and could connect to this post, i will not focus on it.
as the title says; sylus & the 6th LI. how are they associated with eyes? or in this case, how is this association interpreted in this post?
take a look at these two images;
let's remember them, they're important.
so, the writers often implement certain tales and concepts from mythology, and they're even blended together for layered symbolism/connections. here's one primary example.
zayne; linked to snow, fate, destiny, and even annihilation - that too, a destruction that brings about renewal and life again, the continuation of the cosmic cycle. they're quite obvious hints at the major hindu deity shiva, but he's also deeply associated with chinese daoism as the master of fate or "siming," and also dawnbreaker's canon relatability to the butterfly dream of the philosopher zhuangzi. then of course, in the main story, he represents the greek god of medicine & healing, asclepius, through his role as a doctor, the chief cardiac surgeon of akso hospital. importantly, asclepius was killed by zeus for his devotion as a healer, reviving the dead, clearly overstepping the boundaries of "cosmic harmony" established by the major olympian deities - and similarly - zayne always pays the price for defying fate itself by reviving the variable that "threatens" the universe's balance, MC (using the creatio protocore), at the cost of his own existence.
zayne is just one huge example among many other. why mention this? to sort of theoretically ground the interpretation this post is presenting: sylus represents the eye of horus, the 6th LI represents the egyptian deity ra, and pangu represents both of them, as the two eyes of the love and deepspace universe. in other words, we are validating the possibility of the writers blending chinese daoist cosmology & ancient egyptian mythology - for sylus and the 6th LI.
it is important to keep in mind that while the 6th LI is indeed meant to be rafayel's narrative foil, the unreleased character is also meant to be sylus's narrative parallel.
rafayel&zayne are deeply tied to the MC's heart, their routes focus on xander sciences, and both are supposed to "ascend" to their roles as divine beings again after it being snatched from them or lost. also, their evols are both elemental but complementary (fire vs ice). same category but contrast.
xavier&caleb, the one who had to leave her & the one who was taken from her (respectively). their routes focus on EVER's control over them via the collar & the toring chip, and both are, or have been, military commanders. their evols are light (whitehole association) & gravity (blackhole association). again, same category but complementary.
this leaves us with sylus&6th. as the 6th li hasn't been released yet, there's currently no definitive way to accurately judge how their narratives will parallel each other. we can only theorize.
with this set up in mind, let us try to explain how sylus could represent the eye of horus.
firstly, whether you're heavily involved with sylus or have surface-level knowledge of him, you would probably be aware that his right eye glows, especially during intense moments with the MC (resonance for example). while that eye possesses an aether core, we'll get to that after focusing on something else entirely.
the eye of horus symbolises masculinity, healing, protection, and the Moon.
the healing in question is distinctive from modern medicine as it involved rituals and spirituality. it is absolutely possible for sylus to be associated with healing as he can literally self-heal, and even cured the twins using his evol. while zayne, as a doctor is associated with the sterility of a hospital, detailed medical reports, the physical precision of surgical tools, and immense mental fortitude to withstand pressure, sylus's healing is simply tied to his manipulation of matter to the molecular level. totally different.
the eye was divided into 6 pieces by the god of chaos, set, then made whole again by the god of wisdom thoth. one fragment of the piece could not be retrieved, and so, in its place was a "magical" replacement. well, we don't know how sylus received his aether core, but could this magical replacement, in his case, be just that? the aether core?
also, the eye of horus was called "udjat," meaning "whole." could this potentially tie into the fact that sylus and the MC share precisely two halves of one whole, a single soul?
but most importantly, the Moon:
the blood Moon; while it truly fits his overall vampirish/gothic aesthetic, adding to his intimidating presence, his affinity for this specific celestial body are undeniable. regardless of color, it is still the Moon.
additionally;
let us break this down into two parts: scene i. XAVIER, and then, scene ii. the flashback.
scene i. XAVIER, is frequently brought up by theorists to emphasize him and sylus being foils. xavier was the first to tell us about onychinus in the main story, that too, in mephisto's hidden presence. do keep in mind, xavier was not born yesterday. hence, there's a high chance he's well aware that mephisto is watching them.
"the moon is out now, it's much brighter than before. so this time, you won't get lost." - this dialogue, the faint, enigmatic smile playing at his lips, the suspenseful music, and of course, mephisto. when the writers planned and developed this scene, what are the chances that everything is a mere coincidence? especially if you consider a lore that is supposed to be as layered and complex as this game's, where certain details are often hidden in plain sight?
"the moon is out now, it's much brighter than before." & literally the moon before:
if that isn't a moon that is "out," and "bright," i don't know what is. let's be clear, it was very easy for the writers to make him not bring up the moon at all - they could have made him say something like, "the sky is clear now, the stars are much brighter than before." why the Moon specifically? what could he have meant by that? especially under mephisto's gaze?
and now, scene ii. the flashback. this is where the "it seems to be blinking at me" image comes in, if you remember. some say this is about her traumatic encounter with the wanderer, which lumiere rescued her from. but as this is from the MC's pov, that too a terrified child at the time, would she call the wanderer a "powerful force about to burst from her heart," "the Moon," "magnificent," and so on, which seem to hint at an innate power that synergizes with a protective, outside source, plus the positive description?
likewise, there is incredibly limited, if any, eye imagery for xavier or lumiere so far. that too, crimson-red, and black color schemes. while I see why moon could be associated with lumiere due to the overall vibe of his look, does it align the very sylus-esque aesthetic of this "Moon"? which is why, i believe xavier is associated with light in general, including moonlight, rather than solely the moon itself.
the force is also about to "burst from her heart," which means this definitely involves her aether core. out of all the LIs, sylus is the most deeply linked to the aether core due to his eye. when they both possess aether cores, could this be them resonating or something of the like? and crucially, the writers acknowledge the eye imagery by making her narrate that "it seems to be blinking" at her. the strange object clearly takes the form of an eye, composed of utter redness and darkness, which is the most sylus thing ever.
now here are some images compiled by u/wolffox_betta on the loveanddeepspace subreddit:
note: the middle image 'TOR' is from sylus's introductory graphics. and as you can see, undoubtedly, this eye is associated with sylus.
now, a question or two might arise. if sylus represents the eye of horus, which is supposed to be the left eye according to ancient egyptians, why does the game say sylus's power is in his right eye? furthermore, if sylus's power is in his right eye, and the eye of ra is supposed to be the right eye as well, wouldn't it make sense for sylus to represent the eye of ra? not to mention, the eye of ra representing power and wrath?
to that i say, it actually doesn't. it doesn't make sense at all, in fact. first, we have to remember that several times, the writers made it clear that sylus does not like being in the sun. he avoids it, not because he will sparkle or burn to ashes, but because he's sensitive to light. he even keeps his mansion's lighting dim. he, the sun, and light, have absolutely zero affinity. there's also little to no (if any im unaware of) sun imagery for sylus. which is why, the recurring moon imagery, healing, spirituality, 'wholeness,' and even one of the parts being "magical," seems to align a lot more with the eye of horus.
second, limiting sylus to power and wrath does not do him justice, nor does it make sense in the context of ancient egyptian mythology. the eye of horus is supposed to represent masculinity even if its aspects seem nurturing, so it is important for us to ditch gender norms look at things with an open mind.
as for the right and left eye, this is where pangu comes in. in daoist mythology (china), pangu was the primordial giant who separated yin&yang to make room for creation. as the introductory portion of this post says, when he passed, he became the universe itself. love and deepspace is a chinese developed game, and linkon city - among other timelines - is set in an alternate china. it could make sense for this game's universe to be inspired off pangu, whose right eye became the Moon, while his left eye became the Sun; similar to how sylus's power is in his right eye, which allows the 6th LI to be associated with the left eye.
this could mean: the universe, the multiverse, of this game represents pangu, while sylus represents its right eye (Moon), & the 6th LI is associated its left eye (Sun).
now do you remember this?
this eye has appeared at least twice or thrice in the main story, and specifically when something incredibly significant is happening. it's supposed to be the helix nebula, also called "eye of god."
the helix nebula was actually a star akin to our own sun. it's dead - which is why astronomers say it acts as a "preview" to the fate of the earth's sun. someday, our celestial source of light and warmth will also look like the helix nebula. if the 6th LI is associated with the sun, could be also be associated with the helix nebula, similar to how we are associated with our own destinies?
lastly, it is important to differentiate between ra and the eye. in my interpretation, the 6th LI could represent the sun god ra himself, while the MC, his eye; his feminine extension, the possessor, and imposer, of all his power and wrath. why I think the 6th LI could even be a representation of the sun god; due to the possibility of "stanley" (whatever his actual name may be) being the 6th LI, and in his current state, also representing "atum," a weaker, older form ra (symbolising sunset).
the posts; the 6th LI and RA && the 6th LI and MC as RA and the eye
if you have read this far, I cannot thank you enough!! i hope whatever ive written made sense, and of course, these are all theories. they're not confirmed by the game itself. it's possible for the 6th LI to not align with any of this and to be completely different from the interpretations posted on my account. regardless, let's all hope he's written properly🙏
i love you 💓
