House Strighym: Headmaster Spiraste
A thin, shrewd old man of a drow, Spiraste is the private caretaker hired to care for Matron Mother Nedvyllanna's children until they are old enough to be sent to an Academy to hone their skills further. Before Zektyrr, Spiraste cared for Nedvyllanna's daughter, Pellandra, who is now a student at Arach-Tinilith.
Although, "care" is being excessively generous.
Spiraste does not like children. He is aware of their value to the House, but will not coddle or praise or reward. His job, in his eyes, is to keep them alive and educate them, no more, no less. He makes sure children eat and sleep at their designated times, and that they pass their mobility milestones.
"Play" takes the form of age appropriate fitness tests, punishment doled out accordingly if the test is failed. Basic math and history is taught, as well as, of course, the teachings of Lolth.
Attachment is discouraged, affection forbidden. The Matron Mother may go where she pleases, but Nedvyllanna never visits her children. Dalamus visits a few times to check progress, but is not allowed to linger, and is not allowed to consider Zektyrr his own. He belongs to Nedvyllanna and House Strighym.
At the time of Dalamus' exile, Zektyrr is only two years old. His education is, at this time, very basic. He practices walking, running, climbing and eating on his own. He also practices multitasking with a tool or toy in each hand. He can say very short sentences with a couple words, is learning basic Drowic and will soon begin to learn Drowic Sign Language, and practices memory and recognition.
Most notably at this age, children typically start to show compassion and recognizing emotions in others, something Lolthite drow children must learn to suppress.
The hope is that Zektyrr will show aptitude in skills which will allow him to become a Master of Assassins.
