So I went on a magickal walk with the dog.
There was this object, shown in the first picture, which a past housemate had buried in the yard. I know it had magickal intention for them. I dug it up from time to time doing yard chores, and my pendulum said “put it back” but this last time it said “that thing has to go.” A short series of questions determined it needed to be hung in the air, off my property.
I harnessed up the dog on a fine afternoon, told her we were going to just do a meandering and sniffy walk to somewhere, that the point was for me to get to a spot and leave a thing, and then we’d turn back and go home. She normally walks with 70-somethings who don’t go out for as long a walk but it was a gorgeous day and I figured it couldn’t hurt to explain myself to the pupper.
I’m pretty sure the dog completely understood me.
We had a great walk with much sniffing and no disagreements about direction, or barking at other people we passed. We passed three cats at different times, or I guess I should say we surprised the crap out of cats, and the dog utterly ignored them. The one black cat who was about 18″ away went into a really sharp Halloween arch of total cat fear, and froze silently, stunned, as the dog and I just cruised past. I hope that cat went somewhere and had a lie down after that.
The item to go was hung on a thorny bush in an alleyway near a public location which should have plenty of energy to deal with it.
On the way home, I gleaned autumn leaves and seeds as we walked. I had found one single chestnut sitting all by itself in the middle of the sidewalk on the way to the leaving spot, and kept thinking how I had recently read it had been a custom in Scotland to bring chestnuts into the house when the seasons changed, because they act like spirit traps for things that decide to move inside because it’s now cold outside. The whole walk home, I kept thinking about chestnuts, and how there must be more somewhere near where we walked.
That’s when I noticed the dog trying to pull my arm off to get me to turn. Okay, I allowed the dog to guide me into a right turn I would not have otherwise taken and about a block later, there we were, standing under a chestnut tree.
Thank you, Universe, for such a gentle application of the clue-by-four. And for the chestnuts.
