Indie Fabraz has announced it will be bringing SpiritSphere DX to the Nintendo Switch next year, so we got in touch to talk a bit about this new venture into publishing from the Slime-San team.
4colorrebellion: Hi Fabian! Good to have you back with us at 4cr. How are you doing this morning?
Great! There are a lot of awesome things in the works for Fabraz and I’m excited I get share a few of them with you today!
4cr: Good to hear! And now, let's get right to it. You're currently busy working on new Slime-San content, but you're also doing something interesting publishing SpiritSphere DX from Eendhoorn. What can you tell us about this game?
That’s right! SpiritSphere DX is a game that takes classics like pong & windjammers and adds a healthy dose of action-fantasy to the mix. We like to say it’s one part tennis, other part magical beat down!
This is a title that’s right at home on the Nintendo Switch as it features several game modes that can be played solo or with friends! It’s quickly become our favorite title to play at hang outs
4cr: Why are you jumping in on acting as publisher for this particular game on Ninttendo Switch? Can we also expect other games in 2018 you'll be releasing as pub along with the work done as developer and publisher?
The first thing I’d like to note is that we’re still developers first and foremost. We have a lot of awesome things coming up for Slime-san & got grand plans for our next game as well.
But we also realized over the years that in this increasingly difficult market a lot of good games don’t get the chance to stick out of the crowd! So we’re stepping in as a micro-publisher to see if we can help with that.
We can help get your game on a console like the Nintendo Switch, a console we know and love, and give some financial support for expo venues, help with QA and of course handle all of the marketing.
We’re hoping this gives games like SpiritSphere DX a chance to shine!
4cr: Spring 2018 is a tad vague. How into spring are we talking about? Early Spring? Mid-Spring? Late Spring that almost goes into Summer?
Haha, fair enough! We’re currently aiming for a release in April-May 2018.
4cr: Let's go back to Slime-San for a bit. I had a lot of fun reviewing the game on Nintendo Switch, so I've been looking forward to trying the new content for the game on Nintendo's hybrid console. How is that coming along? Do you have any ETA for when it will be available for all Slime-San owners to download?
Yes! We’ve been incredibly busy in bringing you the first content patch to the Nintendo Switch. It’s called “Blackbird’s Kraken” and features a brand new campaign with 25+ levels, a new hub world, 2 new mini-games, a HUE slider and perhaps most importantly online leaderboards!
It’s an incredibly big patch and we’re really close to getting it out there. The current estimate is end of December or early January. I’d also quickly like the time to say that, yes, the second content patch Sheeple’s Sequel will eventually make its way to the Switch as well.
4cr: And how goes the port of Slime-San for PS4? Does that version of the game have a more solid release date now? Are there going to be any changes made to the game when compared to the Switch version?
It goes! The game runs smoothly on both the PS4 and Xbox One, and we’re now doing QA testing and adding a special little something I can’t quite talk about yet…
Our aim is late Spring for both of these releases.
4cr: Once again, thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Is there something else you'd like to say before we end this?
Thank you for having me! We’re really excited to add publishing to our repertoire of skills and we can’t wait to share SpiritSphere DX with you all soon!
