In-universe speaking - I do wonder if the Maltos would celebrate Chinese New Year? Apparently Chinese New Year is a non-working holiday in the Philippines. It's interesting that the festival really is just named Chinese New Year rather than Lunar New Year (according to wikipedia) considering the discourse around the naming. It seems like only Tsinoys celebrate it and the rest just treats it like how a non-Christian would treat Christmas. There are no signs of Alex being Tsinoy in the show but I guess one can always headcanon.

Context: There are 5 Chaos Terrans in this AU, namely Aftermath, Sideways, Spitfire, Wreck-gar, and Transmutate. 4 of them died partially because Spitfire trusted Starscream, so Transmutate got adopted by the Maltos, but they eventually managed to revive their siblings.
To Spitfire, she literally looked away for a second and her younger sibling is now all grown up looking well cared for and talking like a Malto. For a while she would be dismissing everything Transmutate says with "Stop talking like a Malto!" which annoys Transmutate a lot because all this time they identified as a Chaos Terran and wanted to reunite with her. In the meantime, Spitfire is just processing the fact that she failed to protect her family and led them to their doom + the Maltos did the job much better than her. Also she kinda once told Twitch she would steal her family and now she's worrying that karma got back to her given how close Twitch and Transmutate are.
