feels as though his mind ISN’T HIS OWN. feels like his BRAIN has been INVADED; it’s uncomfortable, feeling a whole other presence within your own body. little fingers clench & unclench ( he finds it useful when anxious ). big eyes look at the other, expression blank. his face takes a moment to recognize. HE searches through the boy’s memories; the name is harder to grasp. this isn’t someone he is close to, but HE knows enough. will hesitates to speak.  ❝ hi. i’m waiting for... ❞ a name. not mom. no, not mom. HE remembers. she’s working late. who is coming ? ah, yes. ❝ ... jonathan. he’s picking me up. are you waiting for someone too ? ❞

A SIGH OF EXHAUSTION  escapes the older man’s lips  --    he was being TOO HARD  on the kid.  ( as usual.  always a little too rough around the edges. )   he reciprocates the embrace without much hesitance,  patting the younger’s back for a moment before pulling away,   hand grasping his shoulder.   “ -----  y’ got a long way to go before i ever hire you to babysit,     kid,   let’s just say that.”   it’s an attempt at humor:   hopper’s  lips quirk  upward  slightly,   and he shakes his head,  letting his hand fall.   “what the hell happened to your face?”
