MIBG Scan Results
My doctor is out on a trip all week, so I will not hear from him until next week at the earliest. I imagine he will be backed up when he gets back, especially with how slow he usually is with getting back to me. However, they posted the results of the MIBG Scan online:
INDICATION: Hypertension (HTN) Chronic;Pheochromocytoma AdrenalCatecholamine
IMPRESSION: No radiotracer avid tumor identified
FINDINGS: No radiotracer avid tumor identified including in the left adrenal gland. Diffuse fatty infiltration of the prominent liver. 5 cm left adnexal cyst. Small subpleural nodule left lower pulmonary lobe posteriorly. Other findings as noted on the CT abdomen and pelvis dated 2/11/2015.
TECHNIQUE: MIBG scan with whole-body anterior and posterior planar imaging acquired 24 hours after radiotracer injection. SPECT from the upper chest through the thighs with low dose, unenhanced, nondiagnostic quality CT images for anatomic co-registration and attenuation correction purposes only.
So, I haven't been awake long after the thing this morning (anesthesia is awesome for knocking me out apparently), so I'm not entirely sure what all of this means. I think it means they didn't find a Pheocromocytoma but did find something on my lower left lung. I think. So not sure, though. Even if there is, with the way everything else has gone, I imagine my doctor won't be concerned with it. But who knows. They didn't note the splenule, though. I thought that was interesting. The first time I read it (literally right after I woke up) I read "subpleural" as "splenule," but after rereading, I realized that was not the case. But I'm really not in much of a googling mood to try to understand this shit currently. I think I'm gonna go back to sleep.
