The attacks continued into the evening. According to the Network’s team, seven civilians were killed in the Kashmir neighborhood of Kadugli. The Sudan Doctors Network condemns these grave violations against unarmed civilians. It affirms that targeting residential areas, civilian gathering places, and medical facilities constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law. These attacks undermine all efforts to protect civilians and keep them out of the conflict. The Network calls on the international community to take immediate action to stop the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-N (al-Hilu faction) from deliberately targeting civilians through long-range attacks and systematic shelling. It also urges the international community to exert greater pressure on the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-N to halt the systematic killing of civilians.

U.S. asks Sudan rebels to stop recruiting refugee child soldiers

Anne Richard, the U.S. assistant secretary of state for population, refugees and migration, said she had asked the SPLM-N to stop enlisting soldiers from South Sudan's Yida camp, which houses more than 60,000 Sudanese refugees. "(We) have asked them to please not use the camp, which is supposed to be civilian, as a centre for R&R (rest and relaxation) or for recruitment of soldiers," Richard told reporters after visiting Yida. "Especially we've asked that they not take children to serve as soldiers on the other side of the border."

The security arrangements deal signed on Thursday provides for the establishment of a safe demilitarized zone along the unmarked 1800 km common borders to be monitored by the Joint Border Verification and Monitoring Mission which consists of the two sides as well as independent monitors.
