Because I'm old, I remember Sploder (which, for those who aren't aware, was a website that let users make their own games in various genres and with varying degrees of actual game-development required) and like. One thing I suddenly very vividly remembered yesterday is that there was this one user who kept making Ikea-themed games? Like from what I remember they used the original platformer editor (there were two platformer editors; if anyone's curious send me an ask and I'll go more into detail about how Sploder worked) which allowed the user to re-sprite enemies. All I remember was a lot of blue and yellow...

anybody on tumblr remember sploder?

it was basically this website for kids where you could code games like platformers, no coding needed. It shut down following the end of flash. Me and my older brother would share an account that we'd use to make games on. We always fought over what our avatar should look like, I don't remember what our username in complete was.I also had another account that was specifically for games I would make (like a game series or smthing).

I mainly would use the physics simulator and classic arcade game maker there >⩊<.

Seeing Sploder music uploads get taken down has always baffled me... They even take down ones made by the composers themselves??? THE WEBSITE IS DEAD just let it go. Copyright is a joke.

I just remembered the existence of a neat little website I used to play on called Sploder. Looked my old username up on it, and I'm still there! Enjoy the look into me from 2016ish to 2018 (maybe my account was hacked though? I def don't remember using the site that recently) me, I sure as hell know people aren't as excited about it but I was around 9 when I made the account but oh well.

It is impressive how I kept misspelling Umbreon by the way lol. I'll have to try these old fucks on my computer, I have a flash emulator locked and loaded on it.

also so happy to see this magnificent spritework of mine. the low image quality of this screenshot I took reflects my sheer excitement to see the creature again.

Apparently, people haven't been able to log onto the website for a long while, though, and there's an entire effort to try to revive the platform by fans. Not sure where that went though, haven't seen anything on it beyond that it exists and they have a launcher.

It's also weird seeing all of this now that I'm 17 as of May 23rd, 2023, and it will continue to feel weird I bet.

Update I FOUND MY FUCKING SIGN UP EMAIL holy shit this is why I love having an email address I've had since I was a 4 or 5 year old nibbling on coins or rocks or some shit.

So I was 9 when I made my account. Damn time really flies huh? Why do I feel old? I was born in 2006, I'm not an old fuck. But it oddly feels like it? Reminds me of that one time I had to walk in my elementary school sometime in middle school. It's exactly that feeling but perhaps even more astonishing to me.
