when ruby and anna meet like they swore to, their first destination is the diner ruby met sam in. anna is a little iffy-- really? a first date in the place where you had a “first date” with an ex? but ruby swears she has her reasons.

they get there at around noon and ruby orders two baskets of fries and, in words, “enough coca-cola to kill a man”. anna asks why she can’t order a burger and ruby shushes her, pulling her into the booth.

ruby nods to anna, telling her to take the first bite. anna just shrugs, tentatively tasting a fry before shrugging. ruby blinked, “that’s it?!”

anna blinks, looking surprised, and said, “well, i mean, it’s good but i honestly prefer mcdonalds. when the food is organic like this, it tastes wrong to angels-- mcdonalds still is the sum of its parts”

ruby frowns, scoots away, and says something about how she’s lucky she’s so pretty.
