okay I've seen mixed feelings about the "autism is spongebobs superpower" quote from Tom Kenny but I genuinely believe that he meant it in the most positive way. He is 62 so I don't really care about the outdated phrasing, but I think the point he was TRYING to get across is: having autism is integral to SpongeBob as a character. Yes, he may act childish, may never drive, and misunderstand social cues, AND he's surrounded himself with people who love/understand him, has a job literally doing his special interest (making Krabby patties and making customers smile) and has found happiness in being exactly who he is.
Having autism makes him as wholly complex and worthy of friendship and joy as everyone else! He is still able to thrive and live a fulfilling life despite his differences! Just like all autistic people deserve to surround themselves with a support system that hears and understands them, and is willing to see them as a wholly unique person, instead of their traits being seen as "problems to be fixed"
