I am a long way from being over missing Tijg, but I also knew very quickly that Spook wouldn't do well as only cat and that I wouldn't do well with Spook being an only cat either. She adores me but her style of affection is often from an arms length away. Enter Leo.
7 months old, described by his foster mum as 'super social and keen to cuddle with both people and cats'. He's been here since tuesday, and Spook's hissiness has gone from from a 10 to about a 3 - he still startles her sometimes or gets a bit too pushy, but they've been allowed in the same space since last night (without food or me actively managing attention) and his campaign to win her over is gaining ground quickly. This evening his approach was to sneak onto a far corner of the big heat pad, sit very nonchalantly with his back to Spook until she stopped grumbling, and then settling down there. Spook was always keen to cuddle with Tijg, who was not into it, so I'm pretty confident that given some more time, Leo will get his way.
