So I've been noticing a lot lately.
That people are being told that they can't cosplay as someone because they don't have the right skin color or body shape. Like, what the hell? I mean, if you want to cosplay as someone you like, why not man? Fucking go for it.
"But, you don't have the right color scheme/outfit for [insert name here] so you can't cosplay as them."
To clear this up, it's called cosPLAY, as in have fun with it bro. Make it you, make it fun. (hint the PLAY in cosplay) Also, some people might not have a lot of money to buy the outfits offline or the time and expenses to make it themselves. So it won't be straight to picture of the person.
"Well [insert name here] is a way better cosplayer than you so you should just stop trying."
This is one thing that personally irks me because who cares if someone else is a better cosplayer? Just means they've been doing it longer and know how to make it work well. So what does it matter? Old or new cosplayers are just there to have fun bro, chill yourself.
"YOU'RE A [insert gender here] YOU CAN'T COSPLAY IN A [insert opposite gender clothing here]!!"
And where in the cosplay laws does it say you can't cosplay as the opposite gender? I know a lovely gentleman who cosplayed in dresses and a beautiful woman who has cosplayed in mens clothing. So why does it matter?
Answer is, it doesn't.
