Pondering about ghost ships and ghost trains...
It’s not the same as ghosts who ride horses or the rare ghost driving a car (I barely know any ghost stories with cars in them, perhaps they feel too modern), in those cases a ghost just took its transportation with it
All stories about ghost ships and ghost trains make them the ghost. Something that used to be almost alive and is now almost dead. But not quite. And either it took its whole crew with it, or has freed itself from them entirely. Because we know they could keep going without us. Forever, if it wasn’t for the wind and the fuel
And for some reason it feels like the ships have lost all destination, whereas the trains are still forever going the same route. The same direction even, one way, never back along the same track
But they both show up in certain places, don’t they? So are the train tracks haunted? Is the sea? A specific bay or tunnel? Are these ghosts, or a haunting...?
