He refuses to go to the meeting room, where he would normally be at this hour, but instead, he goes to find Jack. Good, reliable, caring Jack, who deserves so badly to be King. Who was so close last time, only just edged out by Ryan.
And Geoff wants for Jack to be King, he would be so good at it, dressed to the finest, regal and strong. He wants to know what it's like to bow at Jack's feet, to swear loyalty to him.
(Maybe he's got a crush, but maybe he doesn't realize.)
Today, Geoff's going to treat Jack like the King he knows he can be.

Why Ryan decided that he needed to go otu and collect sample of swamp water in the middle of the night perplexed Gavin, but he owed the scientist his life and for that, ended up doing some of the grunt work for him. It wasn't all bad, he assumed. When things went wrong, Ryan fixed him up and that was pretty good, let him live in a small apartment nearby so if anything went wrong he could be there. But still...the swamp at midnight.
