i will (soonish) be giving a joint lecture/demo/performance on my baroque violin at the music department bc apparently no one knows how to play this shit except for me and i care enough to put effort into showing people the awesomeness of historically accurate performance and how it's almost more about being a historian than a performer (i gotta do something for my early history class, and i chose this) i love playing dario castello's sonatas and i can't ever imagine playing off a modernized score or part (pictures of the violin part facsimile from castello's sonata seconda above)--it takes so much away from the experience and therefore the performance....i hope i will be able to show my fellow peers how cool it is and i hope they enjoy it too but also fuck them if they don't because this shit is awesome (fun fact a lot of people that play this early music--including yours truly--call the type of facsimile above 'spoon music' in short hand bc it looks like a bunch of spoons 😋)
