One of my closest friends in Montréal, Barry Walsh @realcity_veteran71 had a birthday last week, Big Ups!! So this Throwback Thursday I’m sharing this painting from 2011 called “Moment of Truth”, which title came from a @gangstarr song. Barry n me are big fans of that hip hop duo, and it’s MC, Guru, had just passed those days. Barry was nice enough to let me take photos of himself to serve as reference for this painting and though it’s not specifically about him, still he’s always been chill n gracious about having his face all over the many products that came out of this piece. Anyways, what this painting is actually about is the archetype of the “normal city dude” as part of the spiritual evolution of the world. My intention was to show that spiritual warriors come in all disguises, not just the stereotypical ones. Skaters, surfers, street artists, tattoo, Nintendo, n sci fi geeks, etc are also part of the movement of consciousness becoming one again. We are all walking ourselves back home, to the infinite body of “Oneness”. Enough division based on our superficial differences! Just be the best person you can and have no judgement on the path of others. When you judge or criticize the process of fellow humans, you are not really helping them, just adding bad vibes to their load and widening the gap we are trying to eliminate. So just be the compassion you want to see in others. Anyways, back to Barry, I Love this old friend, pro skater, father, boom box collector, bmx’er, vinyl selector, writer, and a good hearted Rasta, doing his part raising good vibes in our island community.
