She’s waiting for her hug
Unrelated to the new venue, but I was thinking about Arin today when I was out picking up the lawn.
And specifically her views on children/motherhood, etc due to her past.
She was from a clutch of three, and the only child to survive to hatch - just like her father. She grew up in a place where death was commonplace no matter how old a person was - but eggs were the most likely not to make it.
Later she learned that they needed magic to survive and develop, and being so far from any place of worship - and living in such a small group with only a scant few magic users - meant the odds of eggs living were slim.
She chose to carry Milo because she saw it as the safest option for him, even if it put a lot of strain on her; he’d never be without magic for even a second, would never grow cold, and so on.
If/When her and Laruda have kids. Well. She’s going to be terrified for the eggs, honestly.
Imagine having a horrendous nightmare that feels far, far too real.
A being is clawing at you and you really feel it tearing into your flesh. You can smell the copper on its breath. Every movement you make is slowed and distorted. You are helpless.
You must be dreaming.
You want to wake up, but you can’t.
You gag on the scent of metal, and your last breath spasms within your chest as the monster before you closes its talons around your throat.
Perhaps you aren’t dreaming after all - but you are about to slip away.
Your vision flashes red, and then it all fades to black.
A scream. The claws are ripped away from you. You breathe in clean air.
But the darkness doesn’t fade. If anything, it becomes greater - you wouldn’t have thought it possible.
Your initial relief gives way to dread as you realize that it’s not the mere absence of light, but something vast and alive that’s encircled you.
You turn, looking desperately for any escape from this creature, but instead see a colossal set of teeth glinting from somewhere in the murk.
And then, you hear a voice:
“Are you lost?”
You turn to see little boy who couldn’t be older than four looking up at you with wide, innocent eyes.
“I’m Milo and this is my best friend. We can help you get back if you want.”
Basically imagine being saved by a dream toddler and a gigantic terrorcat that is actually friendly
Arin loves being a mom
even if she’s got another beloved person to obsessively worry about
Basically??
Milo’s goign to be a big brother to fucking QUINTUPLETS
Also I’m considering babby Milo attempting Laruda’s name
Mom and dad are easy words. I mean there’s that theory that language stemmed from babytalk BUT THAT ASIDE
Laruda isn’t an easy name for a baby. Too many syllables.
What I’m saying is Milo will probably be calling them Lu, Luda, or Lewd and that’s just. Something.
so Laurus wants to know if he can fight (read: play) with Delphi. Also Laruda wants to know how she's doing and how Arin's doing.
Delphi is… the sort who enjoys staring off in the distance or at walls but I mean. She could be convinced to play for sure.
Arin and Del are doing good! I think Arin’s still just over the moon these kids actually sleep.
