At the moment..
- Canes game in New Jersey is still scheduled for 7pm, but has the possibility of being suspended.
- Canes did not have a scheduled morning skate this morning.
Throughout the league..
- Rangers are staying put in Denver, (was supposed to fly to Arizona), until after the announcement is made.
- The Capitals have cancelled their morning skate/practice.
- NHL board will hold a conference with all 31 teams at 1pm ET to discuss the future.
CAR/FLA Trade Take
”Trocheck, 26, is in his seventh NHL season and has netted 10 goals and added 26 assists (36 points) in 55 games. The Pittsburgh native is sixth among Panthers skaters in assists, seventh in scoring and third in face-off percentage (52.3%). Florida's third-round pick (64th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft, Trocheck (5'10", 183 lbs.) has appeared in 420 career NHL games with Florida, totaling 111 goals and 171 assists (282 points) and appearing in the 2017 NHL All-Star Game in Los Angeles.”
Trocheck is a solid pickup to help the offensive side of our game which has lacked as of late.
Haula admitted he didn’t want to be here. Despite not producing recently, we needed to get something for him before he walked away in free agency.
Wallmark, as much as we love him as a person, is a bottom six forward with only 23 points in 60 games. He was worth the sacrifice.
Priskie unfortunately doesn’t have NHL potential, at least not with the defenseman in front of him here. Also with the Keane pickup, we could sacrifice.
Luostarinen, again as much as we love him as a person (and a Finn), isn’t a top 10 prospect. He’s 10th in points on the Checkers with 25 points in 44 games. His ceiling is a bottom six. Again, worth it if it helps us get to playoffs.
We could possibly see another trade happen today for a defenseman. If not we have plenty of depth in Charlotte to hold us over.
