"you're trying so hard, but it's all for nothing." kaku spoke as he ran a hand down his face. "one way or another the government is going to find me and i'll be dead and the world will be better off for it."
ლ. He listened to the other's words with a blank expression, arms crossed over his chest as he leaned against the wall of his room. Bogard had just finished giving a report to Sengoku before Garp had returned to Kaku, and while it had been meant to be confidential, he couldn't exactly say he was surprised that the former Cipher Pol member had somehow overheard it.
Still, as Kaku kept talking, he let out a sigh through clenched teeth, his finger going up to pick at his ear as an unimpressed look graced his face.
“ Is that the kind of crap they fed you ? ” he scoffed, “ What kind of stupid claim is that ? The world would be better off for it— bwahaha ! The only man better dead is a pirate. Heh, and even that's something that can change, ” the sea knows Luffy’s part in that, but even without he could list dozens of other crews which would fall underneath such category like Newgate, even if he’d never admit it.
He laughed again — a cackling noise — and shook his head. He'd been around far longer than most, but still didn't know everything about the fine details of Cipher Pol. But what he did know made his blood boil ( fucking slavery ), and he was well aware that Sengoku had withheld even more information from him on purpose.
“ But fine, you brat. You say that you would be better off turning yourself in ? ” he raised his chin, his grin sharpening but by no means less mirthful, “ Prove it. Attack my crew. Attack some random civilians the next time we dock, out of your own damn free will. Prove those bastards up top that they're right, and then we'll talk more about it, ” he let his words linger for a moment before continuing more firmly, “ Until then, I don't want to hear another word of government bullshit, understood ? I already have to listen to enough of it from Senny without you spitting it all over my ship as well. ”
Maybe not the most helpful of words, but Garp was hardly about to change his ways just because he'd picked up some wanted brat on an impulse. Nor would he waste energy on trying to force the guy to believe anything ( he knew things didn't work like that anyway, as much as he liked to act otherwise ). Still, as he moved to leave, he found himself pausing in the doorway.
“ Maybe the government will find you and then hang your guts up for display, ” his head barely looking over his shoulder, “ Maybe I'll manage to convince them to leave you under my charge. Or maybe you'll run away the next island we stop by. Until any of that crap happens, you're stuck here and you're as safe as you can be, brat, ” he knew it wouldn't be forever, but he — for one apparently — didn't see the point in to worry so much about it. Things would work out, and until then, the brat should just lighten up a bit, “ Believe it or not, I don't care. Just don't waste your food later. It's plain stupidity to get on the bad side of a cook at sea. ”
