Okay just need to let you know. After hearing you talk about Daze so much and seeing your blog all the time made me finally start playing Hollow Knight. I'm not as far yet but I finally started after having this game for months! And it's much more fun when I stopped dying every few minutes! So... thanks because I will just say that you're the reason I finally started!

I'm so pleased that you're playing Hollow Knight! Honestly, it's a pretty grueling run the first time because you're still learning the whole time. My best advice is to remind you that you can go almost anywhere you want and never be on the wrong path in this game. If you find an area that you're struggling with, leave and try again when you have new abilities or a stronger nail. It's all about learning your way around. There will always be places that test your platforming skills and that because you did them you're prepared for some of the really difficult areas later. Most importantly, take a break if you need it. There will be frustrating segments but the game in its entirety is so, SO much fun to explore. Take breaks so you don't burn yourself out! Some bosses are annoying but so many more are a BLAST to fight.
One more piece of advice, smack walls. Just. Swing your nail at walls, walk into walls, you never know where a secret room could be hiding.
