Knitting view this eve while Keith puts some burgers on the grill. Very little cell reception/network today, so very few pictures, but happy for a little service to post these. #SpouseSweater update: I used an Icelandic bind off on the hem. If you're thinking this looks long -- it does, because it is! Wanted to allow for the spousal loooooong torso and be sure the sweater can stand up to shifts on and off the forklift, back to the desk, loading trucks, etc. Onward to the sleeves! #SpouseSweater update, at long last: We've hit the mock-cable hem! I stalled for a few weeks, debating whether or not to switch down to a smaller needle size -- and ultimately just decided to go for it on the size I was already using since debating the change was paralyzing me. #SpouseSweater State of the Stitch: We have almost made it thru Stockinette Hell!...on the body, anyway. I've got the sweater lined up on a sweater the Spouse likes the fit of; normally I'd have had them try it on at various points, but my largest circular needle cable won't go over their shoulders. So. This is the next best thing. Soon I'll be putting on the mock-cable hem that was the whole reason we started this! So far our weather has been unseasonably cool, so I haven't felt in a huge rush to finish this -- but we're halfway thru July! Yikes! Time to get back in gear. This cotton is not kind to little shifts in tension, so the stockinette ain't as perfect as I'd prefer, but the yarn itself feels good on the fingers. No complaints. I hadn't been sure that one cone would make this whole sweater, and I think it might not have if I'd gone down a couple needle sizes, but because of the loose-ish gauge I'm not going thru as much as expected. It's extremely probable now that this'll be a one-cone sweater! #SpouseSweater update: this vignette makes it look like the yarn is a gradient (it's not), but this gives a good idea of where we are. I reckon this cone might just last the whole sweater, if I'm lucky! It's actually starting to look like a sweater now! Unfortunately, my particular spouse has a particular torso -- i.e. a long one -- so we are still making our slow way thru Stockinette Hell. Spouse Sweater: State of the Stitch We're past the yoke!...and now, stockinette. So much stockinette. The rest of my life, stockinette. I will die doing stockinette. Stockinette, forever. For those who don't know, I'm making this lightweight seamless cotton sweater for my spouse in the hopes it'll be ready before summer gets rolling too fast.
