the thing about Unity, the mech, is it was - hi You get my tweets now - is that it’s both very old, by mech standards, and also basically a shell. a skeleton. it is only made of mechanical gore and tubes and veins and metal plating skin, it has little to no nervous system, no magic that makes the invisible connections and no future bluetooth to facilitate the exchange of electricity from the pilot to the shell. The pilot is the nervous system, a replacement in there so the thing can work and think (and it wants to work and think, it must). so despite its beautiful outer shell, and gilded airs, and white motifs, the Candidate chamber is actually quite ugly, functionally. It won’t take updates. It’s very tubes and wires and … squish. And grey metal and silicone plugs. old old systems where they have to physically connect to the pilot and taking said pilot Out is an entire process that may or may not be viable. It has a very very pretty exterior with very fancy systems and patrol mechs and rooms inside with pretty crystals and such but inside the Divine’s heart is all kinda gross
