On success and happiness
In order to have success AND happiness in Hollywood and I think in life, people have to like you. Casting directors, music supervisors or A&R's all meet hundreds of people on a weekly basis, so they are more trained at telling who's fake and who's not than a lot of talent out here is aware. People assume it's a shark tank. It is, but that's only on the surface though. People want genuine connection, and to achieve such you HAVE to be a genuinely motivated and kind person. To be a genuinely motivated and kind person you have to train yourself. How do you train yourself? By being just that around the very people who seem to "not be able to do anything for you" on a daily basis: customers, homeless people, tourists, cabbies & store clerks etc. You don't have time to get into "likable" mode when you meet that person that can make a difference, you have to be running on autopilot, because this is simply who you are. Every door you close before another person, is a door you won't get access to yourself. This is what Frank Sinatra, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Richard Branson or Will Smith have in common - aside from tremendous hard work - of course. Andere gross machen.
