i have food poisoned me and my family to the point of cripple, and now i can barely function when i should be working on looking for a spring internship for digital media arts, and my time is so limited that i’m in a constant state of panic.

Obesity Prevention Community Resource Intern

The Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP) seeks an intern to support a community resource project related to its obesity prevention initiatives. The internship is for the winter/spring of 2013, with potential to continue the position into the summer. Currently, the Obesity Prevention Initiatives team is launching a pilot program to health clinics, hospitals, and physicians across the state addressing the quality of care for prevention and treatment of childhood obesity. This project will offer education and quality improvement discussions to pediatricians about addressing the childhood obesity epidemic, while enabling providers to track data, make changes in their practice, and maintain board certification (MOC). Pertinent to the project is providing participants with appropriate obesity-related resources (nutrition, physical activity, etc.) and providing them with information on how best to provide these resources to their patients and families. The ICAAP intern will be responsible for helping to research, identify, and disseminate this information to providers. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for updating ICAAP's current database of obesity-related resources and will play an integral role in helping to assure providers have access to the database.

Excellent written and oral communication and strong organizational skills are required. Must be detail-oriented, have strong people skills, and be able to work on a deadline. Comfort and familiarity working with websites and marketing/communications experience are a plus. Must be willing to do some local travel.
