I am still learning how to use my big lens, so these are not perfect, but I enjoyed camping out by the brush pile to get a closer look at these beautiful native sparrows. And the bathing beauty :D

Top photo is a Whitecrowned Sparrow, second photo a Whitethroated Sparrow. They will soon move on, but I am so please to have quite a few around this year. They just would not come to the feeder cam.

Mr. Purple was back for more today, much to my delight. He screamed at a Goldfinch, seemed to have some lettuce earlier, and also looks like he has been in a bar fight. What a fellow! Many people have told me yesterday that they could not really see why he was called Purple Finch, but I think today with the sun shining, you can see it better. Also, for ID purposes - check out the lower belly. The Purple Finch has a white one and no brown streaks like the House Finch.
