I had a super fun time trying out diving while out in California. I had hoped to get a few more times in the pool than I did, but luckily I will be able to continue taking lessons either in Grinnell or Waukee.
9/25/17 THE SEASON HAS BEGUN! Heres an inside look at what the first couple of days is going to look like. A very strong focus on conditioning and entry positioning towards the beginning. towards the end of the workout they will be working on getting all of their vol dives on both 1m/3m. It went very well today! Everyone seemed happy and energetic to be back and thats exactly the type of energy we need to carry throughout this season. everyone is looking good and diving good, high hopes! -Gabe
9/19/2017. Hello everyone! my name is Gabe Arias and i am currently an intern studying exercise science. I am lucky enough to get the chance to assistant coach the Diving team here at the college of brockport and this will be my journal of my experiences. ---------------- *preseason* Scott, the head diving coach, invited me to the pool to run through some of the workouts to get ready for the beginning of season next week! we worked on some new dryland kickouts and some in water progressions. 301c tuck/pike drill: As shown above, Scott demonstrated his new idea for kick outs that he learned this past summer at Ripfest. Instead of kicking to a flat, back hollow, you kick straight into a pike(with a toe touch). this encourages a strong kick and to kick vertical on vols.
