While out hiking, my friend and I had a very special moment with this bear. He’d come down the path in-between my buddy and I and two other people. He’d  wanted to continue on around in our direction, but knew we were there and wanted nothing to do with us. Instead, he went out into the water and dove around looking for fish for awhile, then swam to the nearest point beyond Derek and I and continued around the lake. He managed to snag several trout on the far side of the lake, and seemed very much like a proud dog. We were in the right place at the right time, and it was an exhilarating interaction!

If you weren’t at Hostel Fish last night, you missed a big night. We were 100% occupancy in the hostel, and the bar sales were through the roof with walk ups. It was a trial by fire first shift for Andrew, who was training with me behind the bar. He picked up all of the basics after the first example, and was soon slinging drinks and helping keep the party going like a champ. He was actually a huge help, seeing as the bar was packed all night. We’ll get him going on some of the particulars today, but feel free to come chill with Andrew at the hostel bar on Monday and Tuesday nights!

Also, Nic and Lynsey (two awesome past employees) both stopped in with groups of friends and made the night especially festive. Lynsey and I even danced to Bowie’s “Let’s Dance,” which was a laughing endeavor, at that point. It’s been awhile, so it was fun hanging with them and hearing that they’ve been well. It’s all a crossroads, here at Hostel Fish; the perfect springboard for making other moves. It also helps validate our coolness factor when our employees, past and present, dig hanging here.

Today we have NFL football on the big screen, so come grab a drink and watch the game.
