like an old gross couple, they just sat outside for a while looking at each other instead of going inside. it wasn’t until alex started getting a little more obviously tired did caleb suggest her going to bed

the prospect of him living with her for maybe the rest of their lives excited her, but she didn’t want him to think it was going too fast. what if she was too weird for him, so wrapped up in her work & writing, he stopped liking her. or worse, what if he asked about her family & where they were

the night was surprisingly warm, so maybe - for a little while there - alex was walking just a tiny bit slower to spend more time with caleb

it was like she was a kid again, where life was simpler. or it should’ve been then, at least. it was like they had known each other their whole lives, but they’d only met that year. nonetheless, it was starting to get serious. . .

why is he so patient with me when everyone i’ve known has lost their temper, alex thought, but not bitterly. he almost didn’t look human in the moonlight, but surely that was just her mind playing tricks on her. surely

much to alex’s surprise, caleb grabbed her by her wrist & gently led her along a path, away from the park since people were still around. he figured she needed to be alone, but he told her after her day at work & the failed surgery, she texted him about needing to see him, he’d just been so busy he couldn’t talk to her until now

at least having an active dog is making her more active as well, but she could do without the playful biting & jumping on her. looks like arya needs some training, & another vet trip to get her fixed
