Here’s a fun theory!

I’ve always said that I suspect Shigaraki isn’t as blind to AFO’s manipulation and exploitation as some might believe. It’s a complicated relationship with lots of paradoxes.

I’ve also always said that Shigaraki treasures his family’s hands. He felt guilt for what he did, he has them as mementos. They bring both comfort and dread, even though he doesn’t remember that part of his life.

And now, we have this:

I read this as a sort of declaration, the final conclusion after a long, long period of questioning. Acceptance, resignation, affirmation… Well, basically, it’s like Shigaraki has doubts before; but now, he knows. He really was born for destruction.

As All For One said, he was born twisted.

I think. Growing up with All For One, Shigaraki would be told over and over again how he was a wrathful creature, he was created to destroy. He was terror, he was an horror of an existence - this, All For One said outloud in front of Shigaraki.

But somewhere inside, maybe, Shigaraki wanted to think it wasn’t true. Sure, he hated everything and he had a terrible temper and he was villainous… but was that all there was? All he existed for? To be born, live, and die as a ghost, a weapon, an abstraction?

It’s why he didn’t actually use his quirks that much. It’s why he’s so careful with his fingers. It’s why he remember the names of the hands, cared for them, ‘talked’ to them. It’s why he got along so well with his allies once he got them. It’s why he was so enthusiastic about having a goal, having comrades, gonna be something great.

His Master said he was a monster, and yeah, Shigaraki could see that. Yeah, he probably deserve all the shit he was getting. Yeah, he was fucked up like that.

But.

As long as his memories were missing, he could believe in that ‘but’. As long as they were fragments, he might not be born twisted. If he could remember, maybe… He had a family, right? He had Hana-chan, and his grandparents, and his mom. His dad. The hands nauseated him, but he also feels a little at peace. What happened that day… he wasn’t sure, but it couldn’t have been because it was inevitable, couldn’t have been because he was always fated to destroy.

Until now.

Whatever memories Shigaraki got back, they finally gave him the answer. The truth.

He really did exist to destroy.

They mean so much to me and are helping me keep my hetalia hyperfixation alive and well while I’m struggling to survive being a college sophomore 💀💀💀 This little pink freakazoid started my love for fucked up little guys (Oliver Kirkland I know there is more to you than being a cutie.
