Winter Blast is a plasmid developed and marketed by Ryan Industries that provides the user with the ability to freeze targets. Winter Blast was mainly advertised for culinary purposes, even being the focus of "The Kitchen of Tomorrow" exhibit at the Hall of the Future in Ryan Amusements. Waiters would supply customers with ice cubes for their drinks with a snap of their fingers and housewives could easily freeze leftover food for preservation.

Sander Cohen: On the surface, Cohen was a celebrated artist, although he often had to stoop to pleasing the public rather than following his passions. It is suggested that the constraints that the public imposed on his work may have been a contributing factor towards his conversion to Ryanist ideals. During his time in New York, Cohen was good friends with Andrew Ryan, who admired his artistic ability and personally invited him to come to Rapture.

Arcadia: Arcadia was created by botanical scientists on Ryan's payroll, most notably Julie Langford. Langford helped create Arcadia and its agricultural research facility, and later used ADAM to grow plants and trees. For a time, Arcadia was a free park for the citizens of Rapture, but Andrew Ryan closed Arcadia to all but paying customers, as he believed the service it provided warranted payment.

Neptune's Bounty: One of the most important events in Rapture’s history occurred in Neptune’s Bounty; the discovery of the mutagenic Sea Slug, the producer of ADAM. A fisherman with a crippled hand who had been bitten by a slug, had his hand regenerated and healed. It was through Dr. Tenenbaum's following experiments that ADAM, EVE, Plasmids, and Gene Tonics came to be developed in Rapture.

Dr. Yi Suchong M.D. 易蘇崇: The life of Dr. Yi Suchong began as the son of a lowly house servant in rural Korea. In Rapture, Suchong set up an independent research firm, Suchong Institute and Laboratories, which partnered with the cities other great research institutions: Ryan Industries, Sinclair Solutions, and Fontaine Futuristics. Under Fontaine he took charge of the genetic research department creating and improving much of the company's Plasmids line such as Enrage and Telekinesis. Suchong’s other important accomplishments was developing the mental conditioning of the Little Sisters, Big Daddies, and Fontaine’s secret projects, “The Ace in The Hole” and “WYK”.

Farmer's Market: When Ryan made the lush green parks of Arcadia only available to those who could afford it, he chose to leave the Farmer's Market open to all. This was likely as to not disrupt the businesses of those who rented space from him there. As the war progressed, each of the stalls were abandoned by their owners, and fruit and meat was left behind to rot.

Medical Pavilion: As ADAM became widely available among the citizens of Rapture, its self-healing abilities changed the use of all of the Pavilion's healing facilities. Due to the instability of ADAM and excessive use amongst many of Rapture's citizens, unforeseen physical deformations began to occur. In response, many hospital facilities quickly became replaced by cosmetic surgery facilities such as Dandy Dental and Dr. Steinman's Aesthetic Ideals.
