"You joined the Empire and for what?" The ISB agent asked calmly, "You joined for one person who doesn't even care about you. Not only that, you could be giving information over to the Rebels --- we know all about your past. Why should we believe any different."
“I----I know he cares about me.” Tari replied, though her head dropped and she fixed her eyes on her boots. She would never admit it, but the words hit her hard. She had to keep telling----reminding----herself that Wyndel did care about her.
Closing her eyes, she forced herself to begin taking slow, deep breaths. Now wasn’t the time to be afraid. She couldn’t show weakness to him, because he’d most likely take it as her fearing for the fact that her cover had been exposed. But that wasn’t it at all. She’d turned her back on the Rebellion before she could even fully commit to it. Did he really think she would keep contact with them?
He would though, she knew that. As calmly as she could Tari pulled herself up and faced the ISB agent, her voice wavering only slightly as she said, “I made my choice. I’m not about to back down from it now and I’ll face the consquences of my actions. But I assure you of this: I am no Rebel. I never was. Don’t believe me if you like, but I am telling the truth.”
