Each Halloween for many years now. yup. I’m on it. 2 new joints underway! . As I explain each year, yeah, i know its kind a juvenile practice haha, but hey, its Halloween. There is some genuine depth behind it tho… one reason I've continued this tradition of casting some of the great models of color as some of the great superheroes of color is to remind these guys that in many instances the impact they are having on younger generations is heroic in nature. They step into these roles and become the visual embodiment of "the ideal male" …”the guy that everyone wants to be.” . These visual cues are subconsciously absorbed by kids who are inundated with advertising images all day long. For a brother to take on the role of an ideal man of color that the next generation can aspire to is a life purpose that is definitely super-heroic in my eyes. These role models are sorely needed! My list of models/comics casting that I WANT to create is way too long (and each year after I post I inevitably get messages from models wanting to be #squaded up.) I never have time to do as many as I'd like. Ive created around 14 or 15 now I think. (I put together a Blue-theme collage of a few… posting it next.) I’ve got 2 more on the drawing board tonite. TuTchT COMICS CASTING Yessir. It’s been a TuTchT tradition for about 7 years now. Why? Read on. . These typically drop around Halloween and even tho I started work on this year’s portraits in Oct, they’re just now dropping because I’ve been swamped writing grant proposals for my musical “A Song of Greenwood” (based on the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921) hoping to get it on its feet by 2021. STAY TUNED! —— And follow for final 2 portraits of 2019, dropping Fri & Sat. . What and WHY is “TuTchT COMICS CASTING?” (repost explanation) My time is very limited so when I take time out for a portrait, I sincerely hope it rises above the somewhat diminishing label of "Fan Art." But each Halloween I kinda "fanboy" out. (Not as mental as “stannin” hahaha but you know.) Yeah, its kinda juvenile to draw someone as a superhero but I believe in feeding the inner juvenile whenever possible. hahaha. Don't get it totally twisted though, one reason I've continued my tradition of casting some of the great models of color as some of the great superheroes of color is to remind these guys that in many instances the impact they are having on younger generations is heroic in nature. They step into these roles becoming the visual embodiment of "the ideal male" …the guy that everyone wants to be. These messages are subconsciously absorbed by kids inundated with advertising images 24/7. To take on the role of “an ideal man/man of color” that young kids can aspire to is a life purpose that is definitely super-heroic in my eyes. These types of role models are vital to our country right now! .
