We are Feline Guardians UK, the United Kingdom arm of Feline Guardians, an international animal welfare organisation dedicated to exposing and combating organised online animal torture networks, with a primary focus on cats and kittens.
While cats and kittens are the main victims - largely because they are more readily available as strays, through kidnapping from owners, or by deceiving foster carers and rescuers under the pretence of adoption - these cruel networks also target a wide range of other animals, including baby monkeys, dogs, puppies, hamsters, and many other pets.
These groups upload and livestream their atrocious torture videos on major social networking platforms including Telegram, X (Twitter), Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Douyin, etc. The content is often disseminated and amplified by young people, contributing to the rapid spread of this horrific material.
We work tirelessly to raise awareness, support investigations, advocate for stronger animal protection laws (especially in countries like China where enforcement is weak), and coordinate global action against these horrific networks. We organise events, demonstrations, and collaborate with media like the BBC to highlight the scale of the crisis to bring this crisis to light.
Our mission is to create a world where every animal is treated with love and dignity.

ARTICLES:
There is a systematic problem of cat and animal abuse in China. Without law enforcement, abuse and torture will become more prolific and normalized.
Already we are seeing many cases of cat and animal abuse happening in broad daylight, and in public.
An interview with Qian Yefang states: "The inaction and shirking of responsibility by law enforcement officers also indirectly make the public and animal abuse groups think that animal abuse will not be punished, or will not be punished too severely."
Complacency and just hoping that abuse will not escalate won't make this problem disappear.

The UK Is Not Immune: The Spread of Organised Cat Torture Through Online Networks
While the organised cat torture crisis originated and remains most severe in China, it has spread worldwide through online networks; and the UK is not immune. British teenagers have been actively watching, sharing, and in some cases emulating these horrific acts.
LONDON - A stark example is the 2025 case in Ruislip, northwest London, where two teenagers (aged 16 and 17) were sentenced for the sadistic torture and killing of two kittens - using knives, a blowtorch, and scissors - in a brutal attack that shocked the nation.

SUSSEX - Another example occured in November 2023, two agricultural students, Leighton Ashby and Oakley Hollands, attacked and fatally injured a sheep on the South Downs near Ditchling Beacon, Sussex. The men subjected the ewe to a 30-minute assault before using fireworks to inflict fatal injuries, filming the act on their phones

LANCASHIRE - In 2023, Lancashire Police arrested an 18-year-old man from Carnforth on suspicion of animal cruelty after distressing footage circulated on Snapchat showing a cat being thrown off a quarry ledge into a body of water. The teen was initially released under investigation while enquiries into the exact circumstances continued.
The video sparked massive outrage online, prompting concerned members of the public to contact police forces across the UK. In an initial update, police stated they believed the cat was already dead before being thrown, prompting them to say no criminal offence had been committed. However, after further analysis and significant public pressure, they formally arrested the teenager.

BRISTOL - More recently, in May 2026, 19-year-old Callum James Dean Palmer of Fishponds, Bristol, violently threw his neighbour's black-and-white cat, Apollo, from a high balcony in Kingswood, Bristol. Palmer lifted the cat by the tail before flunging him violently. The entire incident lasted just 11 seconds and was filmed by a friend on Snapchat. The video showed the cat spinning multiple times in mid-air before landing with a loud thud. It dropped roughly 20 feet (6 metres) onto the roof of a nearby shed. The shed roof had sharp nails protruding from it. Palmer made no attempt to check on the animal or see if it was hurt. The video was posted to social media, where shocked viewers reported it to the RSPCA.

Such cases demonstrate how online content is inspiring real-world cruelty among UK youth, underscoring the urgent need for greater awareness, education, and stronger animal protection laws.
Rise in animal abuse in England and Wales fuelled by social media, finds RSPCA
Feline Guardians UK stands determined to break this cycle of cruelty. By raising awareness, supporting investigations, advocating for stronger laws, and empowering communities to take action, we are fighting to ensure that no animal suffers in silence. The disturbing spread of these torture networks - from China to our own streets - shows that this is not a distant problem, but one that demands urgent global and local response. Together, we can protect vulnerable animals and build a future where every cat, and every living creature, is treated with the compassion and dignity they deserve.
