Who Watches the Squatchman?

Maybe I'm just a big ole dummy, but before this post over at Uni-watch, I didn't even know what a squatchee was. Turns out they are those little colored dots that sit at the top of caps or are painted on the top of batting helmets. What a world, right?

Well, tired of the mere representation of a squatchee atop the batting helmets, Kevin Keirst, the Mets equipment manager, vowed to do something about it. Hence, the world may now have been gifted with slightly raised helmet dots. Here are a few of the clips that Paul Lukas was able to snag:

With no other purpose than looking nice, it makes sense that the Mets would be willing to try them out. Besides already having some of the best looking uniforms in the sport (I speak of the home pinstripes. Let's pretend the black tops don't exist), the team could use all the aesthetic support they can muster.
