This beautiful picture, made by Samatha Muir, is from a Feather Star Squat lobster (Allogalathea elegans). Squat lobsters are a big family with over 900 species and can be found all over the world. The one in the picture only likes warm water and mainly in our regions. Apart from warm water, they also like Feather Stars with which they have a symbiotic relation. The Feathers Star provides protection and shelter. The lobster keeps the house clean. With maximum 2 cm, they are quite small and on top of that, they do they match the colours of their host.
