How to be effective (Part 4: Sub Weapon Usage)

Squid etiquette program can be found here
Thrown sub weapons can smoke out enemies. Even the sprinkler, since enemies will often shoot it first. Be sure you step away when you do, because they’ll often come out guns blazing.
Use your bombs to keep enemies in the effective range of your weapon. throw over their heads to pull them close, throw at your feet to encourage them to go away.
Splash Walls can be used to help single out targets coming from multiple directions. Put it between you and the enemy with the longest range, then eliminate anyone closer. By the time the wall expires, you should be able to get away or pursue the remaining enemies.
Bombs are great surprises for ledges. Splat bombs are effective for going up, while Suction bombs are used to defend the top. burst bombs can be thrown off the ledge or up it.
Ink mines defending elevated areas should be placed close, but not at a ledge. This entices them to come closer, but also makes it difficult to flee back down the ledge when it goes off. Enemies that are too committed to getting you will get taken out by the mine.
Beacons are to be placed in easy to defend or areas generally out of sight. One placed directly beneath a ledge or in a corner is overlooked more often than you think, allowing you to return to enemy territory for a pincer maneuver.
Sprinklers should be placed up high and be able to cover large areas. In this way, only a charger, throwing another sprinkler or getting splatted can remove it.
Always throw point sensors before going around a corner. this will remove the element of any ambushes.
Suction bombs can be thrown onto the bottom of grates. This will often catch enemies on top by surprise.

More tips, this time, what to do when you are alone.
Don’t be afraid to run: It’s better to give some ground and to take down the attackers than it is to die and have them push even further.
Super Jumps are for running away as well as getting back into the action.
Make your stand at choke points: It’s easier to take out more people when half their shots are blocked by each other. Also you don’t need to change aim much to hit any of them.
Try to go where nobody is: It’s easy to forget about a lone squid when their are three in front of you. So make a run for their base if you have the chance.
Use your bombs: You don’t have support, so smoke out your enemies from their hiding places, or if they’re close ranged, take them with you.
Hiding is your best tactic: Let them pass you. They will be too busy engaging your buddies to pay any attention to you while you steal their turf.
How to be a good "Older Squid Sibling"
Protect your baby squibs (lvl >20): They are your future generation of squid friends, so don't let them get discouraged.
Teach your baby squibs tricks: Letting them see a big squid in action will give them an idea on how to act.
Safe Squid Parties: Do not kill the rare party squid. Additionally, don't let anyone else kill them. It's just not cool.
Don't always try to be a hero: Let someone else carry the objective (capture zones, ride the tower, carry the rainmaker) if you're bad at it. Stay alive and hidden if your team is down a few players. Letting them jump to you is faster than having to swim all the way back.
Protect your jumping teammates: If you win the engagement, you and your buddy can push together. If not, at least your buddy might get away.

So, I bought some dried squid snacks at the corner store. They're pretty delish, but they're too tough for most peoples' taste. Here's a pro-tip: dried squid is pretty hard to chew with your molars, so try grinding it up with your front teeth until it gets softer. How is this going to help you in Splatoon? I dunno, but it tastes great!
