Project Splatoon NEO: Inkling Hairstyles and Octoling Hairstyles. +In depth analysis.
The Octolings may seem as though they don’t follow the tentacle rule at first. These hairstyles were designed from the octo fro. The logic of how the Octo fro actually works is vague, but based off of it’s physics it acts as if it’s a bubble or balloon. With that in mind, the Splatoon NEO Octolings push that idea in an innovative way. They use a net that gives their hair a “stressed” effect to look more curly.
As stated above, the net isn’t visible to be aesthetically pleasing. The net could be a clear wire, nonexistent, or maybe even inside the fro... I’ll leave that as a mystery.
In conclusion, the hairstyles follow the tentacle rule. I push the logic of concepts we see in game without straying too far. I’d rather push the logic than have uninspired designs. It’s something new and different. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for future updates !
