Happy birthday, @squishmittenficfan! Hope you like this little manip i made for you :) Bernie, Serena, Jason and of course Muriel, who I hope looks somewhat like you imagined, I only thought of doing this yesterday, didn't remember whether there was a scene describing the chicken's colour and didn't have time to re-read much, so I guess Muriel is a brown chicken now, hope she didn't fall into a bucket of paint in one of her adventures xD

@tebarambles I’m likewise glad not to have watched the last couple of episodes. As for the ratings, I read a post somewhere that said Holby had lost a million viewers in the last year or so. I don’t know how true or accurate that is, however.

Guess who spent the past 1.5 hours trying to figure out the Holby ratings :D It took me far too long to find out that the ratings per episode are all listed in the List of Holby City Episodes Wikipedia article, whoops.

Apparently, the average ratings for series 18 and 19 were 4.42 million / 4.40 million - provided I didn’t make errors (there’s a massive thunderstorm going on outside right now and I’m a tiny bit distracted). I can’t calculate the average for S20 and 21 though, because the entire data is based on the BARB weekly top 30 programmes - and apparently Holby has only managed to enter the top 30 once since 11th September 2018.

All the fics so far, and to my knowledge, all that will be posted over the weekend are Berena stories. We’re hardly going to write about Marcus Dunn or Edward Campbell without Bernie Wolfe or Serena Campbell.

@wonkots42 I can't remember the inspiration, I have a tendency to be a bit mesmerised by Nigella if I'm honest �� If you have sure fire recipe though, I'd love it.

Carrot Cake

120g vegetable oil, plus extra for greasing 150g soft light brown sugar 3 free-range eggs 200g self-raising wholemeal flour 1 ½ tsps baking powder pinch salt 2 tsps ground cinnamon, or as much as you like really 200g carrots, peeled and grated

1. Preheat the oven to 180C and grease and line the bases of 2 x 18cm sandwich tins.

2. Put the oil, sugar and eggs into a large mixing bowl and whisk well until the ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture has almost doubled in volume. A stand mixer would be best.

3. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon and then fold very gently into the liquid mixture, being careful to knock as little air out as possible. Fold in the carrot and divide between the tins. Bake for about 30 minutes until a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean. Cool in the tins.

I usually sandwich and cover with cream cheese frosting and @kooili158 will sometimes make me fiddly little fondant carrots for decoration.

This recipe also works well as cupcakes.
