I was wondering if you had tips for people who were looking to improve their skills at drawing,I would love to learn some basic tips on drawing bodies, angles and heads. Or like what type of markers are the best ,I want to give my friends doodles and any help you would help would be appreciated
Well, it’s always good to have references for drawing, particularly for bodies! Most of the time, if it’s a drawing I’m more unsure of, I’ll look up some pose references, either through Tumblr, Google, or Deviantart.
If I don’t find something I like through that, I’ll usually either take a picture of myself in the pose, since I know what I want, or pose a mannequin in roughly the position I want…(cheaper way than buying a small mannequin? Just get a posing app and fiddle around with it. I use MakeAPose every once and awhile. I believe it’s free, and you can pay like $2 to get an expanded list of models.)
References also help a lot with proportion, I normally don’t want anyone ending up with baby hands or impossibly long legs, so I’ll also use my references to help with general body proportioning.Now…faces. I try to make my faces with eyes an eye width apart, but with doodles, honestly? That doesn’t always happen. But, I can add some links to some tutorials I found helpful for drawing as soon as I can compile them if you’d like…?For markers, I usually go with Copics or Prismacolors, since they blend nicely. If you’re looking for something slightly cheaper but similar quality, go for Touch markers. **A note with those though! Make sure whatever you’re coloring is lined in a good pen, since pencil will smudge!!!**
