There was a girl, once. Her hair was like summer wheat, skin fair and soft, and a right hook that could crack a hovertank.
If she wasn’t hard at work out in the fields or tending to the animals she seemed to always hover around me and watch me toil over maps and books. She had a knack for knowing when I needed a break and despite my best efforts to continue working, she would grab me by the arm and push me out of the house to either go exploring, run to the local town’s festivities or teaching me the finer points of spell slinging. Shes even saved my life more times than I care to remember but she was always smiling when she did.
Never did figure out why she became so infatuated with me but then again I really didn’t care.
I eventually gained enough courage to ask her to marry with me. It shocked even her but she accepted emphatically.
Unfortunately it was not to last. It wasn’t long after we got engaged that the Dominion reared its ugly heads and took her away from me. I’ll never forget that day as I held her in my arms and she slipped away she smiled and said “Thank you.”
It still gets hard but sometimes I can still feel her nearby.
I know she waits for me on the other side of the void. Still watching over my dumb reckless self.
Maybe some part of me hopes that she will comeback and save me once last time.
