Join THE AQUABATS to MAKE BRAND NEW ALBUMS & A WHOLE YEAR OF NEW EPISODES that make the world super rad... for the kids!
Entering the last day of their campaign, i would implore you that if you’ve ever enjoyed the work of the Aquabats to contribute to them producing further rad albums and additional episodes of The Aquabats Super Show. If you’re not familiar with them, maybe you should be!
The Aquabats formed in the mid-nineties with the intention of poking fun at the over seriousness of those involved in the punk movement of the time. But, finding the burgeoning Ska scene to be largely that already, decided to go in that direction fully. Pulling inspiration from Devo in their musical approach and costuming, and naming themselves along the lines of past surf bands, they formed with a motley crew of local musicians to mostly just have fun with the idea. But were driven on by the response of the crowds and the rising status of ska in general at the time
They’ve had a long road since then, evolving as a band past that to a sound closer to Devo entirely, but have always had great energy, cleverly satirical songs, backed by positive energy and an appreciation for what’s good in life. Who else would write a ballad to waterslides?
In these water mountains we can hide There we can close our eyes And we can be all right We can write this story Raise our arms in glory As we step off the world to slide
Or a sort of relaxed calypso song about the end of the world
Chemical bomb, chemical bomb Eyes melt, skin explodes, everybody's dead It won't be long, it won't be long People gonna run around losing their heads A river of blood, who's gonna live? The earth is tired of human kind and I think this world Is gonna wash up in Hell
Or just writing themselves a marching theme
We're all just peaceful little Aquabats We would never take a life We don't want to fight But if we must Please be cool No guns or knives
If you dont know them, and are interested in hearing more, like most folks these days, you can listen to their albums on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoAw6jzpQDjGqGyXOuM-JcQ/playlists (at least if you’re in the US). “The Fury of the Aquabats” is far and away their most popular album, but i think “Charge!!” is their strongest, showcasing their growth as a band and their breadth of styles.
So, in conclusion, please consider kicking in some cash if this is something you’d like more of in your life. $25 will get ya the new album when it comes out, or $55 will get ya some extras and a tshirt with that. And like any kickstarter, the packages get bigger tfrom there. If they can get up to their next goal, it will be two albums, as well as a live album, so it would be nice if they got that far.
