You seen the new throwback-style liveries that Subaru will be running on their US rally cars this year?!
Yeah!!! Here’s some pics of of one of them, which I took at the Detroit auto show last month:
This particular one appears to be for Scott Speed, who’s joining them for the ARX (rallycross) season in 2019.
The team logics when it comes to ARA/ARX are still largely mysterious to me, at least relative to NASCAR, but I think the way Subaru seems to do it is they run one primary car with one set of drivers and then one secondary car with a rotating limited schedule of drivers; and then sometimes a third car, whenever…. whimsy seems to ping them. Idk. XD
But they just announced tiny baby Oliver Solberg for their ARA program, joining their primary, David Higgins. That makes me kind of sad, because I really hoped my SRTUSA fave Patrik Sandell would get to drive more rally this year–he’s their primary for ARX but he was sooooo good in the rallies he ran last year!
I’m not sure if Solberg is sharing his ride with Pastrana/Atko/Sandell or if he’ll be running the full season. (Is he even allowed to? Does he have school? Is this a Harrison Burton situation???)
In any case, as far as this scheme goes, I’m not unequivocally in love with it, necessarily, but it’s way prettier than their schemes last year, so there’s really nowhere to go but up!!! XDDD
Like, I guess there’s nothing wrong with the old scheme; I just don’t think it’s that memorable or distinctive.
