Sruli Recht S/S 2013 A Gravitational Constant SR 510 - Long Cotton Shorts
Sruli Recht – Reykjavik Fashion Festival 2011 Sruli’s collection is made almost entirely from Icelandic materials: reindeer, taxidermy bird skins, horse and cod skin, lamb fur (and is rumored to be experimenting with tanning shark skin). It was something of a citified take on modern-day Viking might wear: slouchy three pieces suits, tailored rustic leather jackets and knit pants. x
Sruli Recht One-Dart Jacket “Fitted Single breasted Icelandic woollen-felt Jacket, draped as a sole rectangle, shaped with one dart running from the scapula through to the nape - draped entirely on a K&L 38 stand and on the body of a man named Emil in Reykjavik. This is a sharp and hard cut-throat jacket. It was once a sheep, lost in the awkward grassed hills that cover Iceland, that gave its coat for yours. These sheep*, genetically unique to Iceland, are annually tracked down on foot, herded in by the children of the men and women of the country, and shorn. The wool is carded, spun and knitted in here to our design. The hand-attached shank buttons on this jacket are made in our studio from two circles of Icelandic horse skin and contact adhesive. At the edge of speed.”
