I've started playing Super Robot Wars Y

I haven't super "actually watched" a lot (most) of these shows (and I'm only three missions in so far) but I'm nonetheless having a great time

I really like how the story isn't some boring multiverse thing and instead they just have every mecha anime happen at once and also there's ninjas. it's so fanfic.

(also I love how they just. instantly spoil the ending of Code Geass)

I decided to play as Cross, but I'll almost certainly do a second playthrough as Forte because this game is very fun both story-wise and in gameplay

Echika honestly deserves a medal for not completely breaking down, girl was probably expecting a pony or something for her 14th birthday and instead surprise, flying fortress city. certainly I'd be thrown for a loop. but Echika is out there like a day later tops going "alright, apparently I'm the Science Princess now so clearly I need to assume responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of everybody here even though I literally just turned 14. also we totally just seceded from Japan btw." I guess Cross being there is helping, knowing you have a ninja bodyguard is probbo good for one's peace of mind

I 100% thought "NINJA" was just inflated to sound more sci-fi or indicate an alternate character thing that doesn't translate, and I laughed out loud when Cross explained what it was an acronym for

"Maids as bridge-bunnies" is an amusing spin on the usual tropes of mecha anime.

I love how if you do Getter Arc's mission before Dynazenon's, you go from all the drama and history and schemes and destiny the Getter cast have going on, to Gauma clearly having at most 20% of a clue what he's doing and only being the leader because the four strangers who became his crew by literally being physically nearest have both absolutely zero clue what they're doing and (by Chise's outright admission) literally nothing better to do. I really hope that's an accurate reflection of what SSSS.DYNAZENON is actually like. also that missile kick attack is so Studio Trigger
