He skimmed the 3 photos on his phone. Yugi was supposed to find the last piece of his puzzle and these were the clues Seto left him. His brother never said anything about not having help so he didn’t think it would hurt and Yugi did ask. Plus checking out the local castle seemed like more than enough of a good time. They had only been to Spain once or twice before and it had been for business so not much sight seeing actually happened. That was usually how it went for him and his brother. Though they brother were doing their best to try and enjoy themselves more.
Far more impressive face to face, the building looked old, the outside worn from years of weathering. The door however seemed to be still in tact. Possibly kept maintained by the city to keep kids from vandalizing the inside of the place. Though usually places like this had someone watching. If it was somewhere for tourists to look around then there was normally some sort of office. A place to check in with some sort of guide. Strangely that didn’t seem to be the case so he chose to just knock. A pause, no sound or response. Another knock. After the third with no response he went to check, it was unlocked. If he got caught he’d just pretend not to understand and stick to Japanese and allow himself to be kicked out, but for some reason he didn’t see that happening.
The inside was well maintained, clean and free of dust. It even felt.. lived in? Calling out he was met with silence. Mokuba shut the door behind him and started through the large castle, feelings of when he first came to the Kaiba mansion rose from inside. Remembering how much larger it felt than it actually was, a sense of unease. He disliked large unfamiliar surroundings to some extent for that very reason. Mokuba wasn’t a little kid anymore to those feelings were never held onto for very long.
Continuing to move throughout the house he made his way to one of the far ends. Curtains were closed, and he hadn’t realized till the only light was from dim lights and candles. Weird-- with so many of them wouldn’t it be a waste to have so many lit at once, not to mention there was still plenty of outside light if you just opened opened the curtains. His fingers reaching out mid thought but cut off by a voice. Spanish accent, that much he picked up, the words that were actually hadn’t been processed due to being startled. He couldn’t even repeat them in his head to make sense of it. A moment of panic, his heart stopping.
The man was just above his height, perhaps just an inch or so, nothing more. Brown hair with just the slightest curl to it paired with bright green eyes that almost seemed inhuman, his focus trained on them for some time before words broke him out of the trance.
It took some fumbling and a weird mix of Japanese and Spanish before he finally was speaking with a bit more clarity, it wasn’t a language used much so it had fallen in the back of his mind but languages were like riding a bike you never really forget. He had been questioned on how he got in, only to be responded with something that seemed like the door had been mistakenly left open by someone else. Probably a house staff. The man in questioned was named Alejandro. The owner and only real resident of the castle, staff was kept to a minimum from the sounds of things and didn’t live there.
Mokuba was invited into what seemed like some sort of parlor, this room just as dark as the rest of this side of the house. The thought sat on the surface of his mind but he never spoke up on it. Maybe if it came up he’d question it, but he had learned enough with some of their foreign exchanges some things were better left unquestioned.
