Deconstruction of Paper No. 4 - 36"x24" - ink wash/erased/removed, torn paper - 2012
"I am interested in emphasizing the making. The process of making allows me to inquire, to question, which in turn enables me to create. Through a process of questioning the interaction between self and medium, I want to realize, not conclude, the intimate dialogue between intention and control. "
"By either utilizing found objects or working subtractively and additively upon an object considered “new” - one that has yet to be utilized for which it was constructed - I am able to create the illusion of time passed, giving this “new” object a sense of history and wear. This illusion is intended not as trickery or in efforts to evade any kind of innate truth, but rather to illuminate the inevitable falsities inherent in art making."
