pt 1 [i havebeen diagnosed as ocd and gad]i get into ruts. sometimes i am like hyperactive and an hour later i just crash and hate everything about myself. it happens every night. i just sit there and feel so self conscience and hate everything about myself. if you put food in front of me, i will probably eat it and that doesnt help either because it makes me want to skip meals but i never do. i just feel so self conscience all the time, i wont even go swimming in the heat.
pt 2 i get so low and so down that i have panic attacks and just cry and cry and cry because i cant do it. (i dont self harm) im too embarrassed to talk to my therapist about it, shes kind of condescending and tries to chalk it up to ‘typical teenage stuff’ but i dont want to get a new one because i have already been to a lot of them.
pt 3 i just dont know what to do anymore. i hate my body and i hate myself [please tag as sggl] - grace
Hello Grace,
I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling this way. I honestly think that if your therapist isn't working for you, you should seek out a new one. I know it can be so disheartening when you've seen a lot of different therapists, as I'm currently in the same position having seen a lot, and needing to seek a new one. However, I think that it would be better for you to see someone who is actually going to listen to you and help you out, so that you can start to be able to cope with these feelings, and challenge them. My case manager says to me "Psychologists are like mechanics; if you don't like the one you have, change who you see". There are lots of therapists out there, and you'll find one who will work with you, and actually help you. I hope that you do look for a new one, because you deserve that help.
I also recommend speaking to someone around you about how you're feeling; maybe a friend or family member, so that you have some support at home or school as well. If you do attend school, I think that seeing your campus counsellor would also be beneficial to you, as they can work with you like a therapist, or help you to find resources to help you cope with these feelings.
There are also Helplines and Web Counsellors that you can talk to about how you're feeling, and I really encourage you to speak with them. They can be a good support, especially when things feel like they're starting to get bad. They can help you through the feelings, teach you healthy coping methods and find more resources for you.
Take care,Alexandria.
