What happened during SSL G1? Tab Tonic, our founder, loved three things: family, fame and fortune (in no particular order)...
She kicked off our journey with a bang (literally!) by woohoo'ing with married A-lister Thorne Bailey, and getting pregnant with twins! Unfortunately, Thorne didn't claim the boys, and he promised to end Tab's career if she shared their secret.
Mountain Dew Tonic and Surge Tonic were born and immediately faced trauma at their first spooky day party, where their friend died in a fire. Not long after came Ginger Ale Tonic, the result of a drunken night out-- Tab still isn't sure who Gin's father is.
Tab's career finally took off, and after a few failed nominations, she won her first Starlight Accolade! Unfortunately, Thorne Bailey pulled a Kanye and took the stage to discredit Tab's hard work. Thorne's stunt was universally condemned, and Tab was praised for her grace and resilience in the face of a seemingly unprovoked attack. In the end, Tab's fame skyrocketed!
It wasn't long before Tab found a way to heal. Inca Newman, a former hermit from Granite Falls, captured her heart. He was everything she needed- stability, kindness and normalcy. Soon after, she proposed! Tab finally experienced the love and security she'd craved her entire life. She was the strong, caring mother her children deserved. Inca provided the stability they needed, and the kids flourished (even if they protested the marraige at first).
The boys were now teens, and finding love with childhood friends. It seemed like there would finally be a happily ever after-- Tab even fell pregnant with another set of twins! Crush and Sodastream Tonic-Newman were born! Tab felt as if the family was finally complete.
On the way home from his daughters' births, Inca Newman died of hunger (my bad.)
Inca's death left the family in shock. They each developed different methods of coping. Tab turned to her work, Dew became fascinated with robotics, Surge began smoking and spending all of his time at his girlfriend's house, and Gin became a pseudo-mother to her young sisters.
The Tonics' relationships were rocky, and Dew and Surge's decision to go to college "like normal, non-famous teens" divided the family. The Tonic family's relationships were rocky, with tensions growing between siblings over their decisions and grief. Gin felt abandoned by her brothers, while Dew and Surge felt angry and resentful towards their mother for not understanding them.
With the second generation on the horizon, will the upcoming heir Dew Tonic be able to reunite his family? Or will the Tonics be another broken star-studded family?
