[alecto] || quick challenge
He's just a baby himself when they bring her home, swaddled in a lush blanket. The bundle in his mothers arms is crying, loud and persistent. Amycus wants to see it. Shapes are still blurry, but knows the outline of his mothers face and if he blinks hard enough she comes into focus. All he knows is that his mother can't pick him up if she's got something else in her arms.
He screws up his face to join in the crying, pudgy child arms held up to his mother, but his father cuffs him around the ears and scowls. "You're not the baby of the house any more, midget. Stop that. Your mother is trying to sleep."
Amycus doesn't understand any of it but even at one he knows better than to cry more when his father takes that voice. Instead he sticks his thumb in his mouth and sucks on it hard, eyeing the still wailing bundle.
Whatever it is, he's decided not to like it.
